Ancient India
Sushruta should be considered the father of Surgery itself His outstanding work on 'Repair of the nose' is still quoted in textbooks on the subject. His Charitas include chapters on orthopaedics. He has described various types of dislocations and fractures. Ge has also included a chapter on war injuries.These texts were in Sanskrit, and were translated into German before they were studied in India.
